Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the "Personal Books Assistant" application (the "App") handles data. The App is a private, single-user tool operated by an individual solely to access their own QuickBooks Online company. It is not a commercial product and has no other users.

What the App accesses

When authorized by the account owner, the App uses Intuit's QuickBooks Online API to read and, when explicitly directed, write accounting data belonging to the owner's own company — including reports, invoices, customers, vendors, and transactions. It accesses only the single company the owner connects.

How data is used and stored

Data retrieved from QuickBooks is used only by the account owner, for their own bookkeeping, accounting, and tax purposes. Authentication tokens and any retrieved data are stored locally on the owner's personal computer. The App does not run a hosted service, does not maintain a shared database, and does not aggregate data across users because there are no other users.

Data sharing

The App does not sell, rent, or share QuickBooks data with any third party. Data is exchanged only between the owner's computer and Intuit's QuickBooks Online API over encrypted connections. No advertising, analytics, or tracking services receive QuickBooks data.

Data retention and deletion

Because all data and tokens are stored locally, the owner can delete them at any time by removing the local files and revoking the connection from within QuickBooks Online (Apps → Connected apps) or by using the App's disconnect option.

Security

Access is protected by Intuit's OAuth 2.0 authorization. Credentials are stored with restricted file permissions on the owner's machine and are never transmitted to any server other than Intuit's.
